What do you use for your bookmark? Is it a receipt, a train ticket, a random scrap of paper you found in the bottom of your bag from god knows what?

Me too. I think every bookworm can relate to this – we have hundreds of actual bookmarks yet we always seem to be using whatever rubbish we can find instead. I’ve been known to even pop my phone into my book as a bookmark when there’s nothing else around.

I think the problem here is that no matter how many bookmarks you have, there is never one around when you need it! I keep most of mine on my bedside table, which means if I’ve started a new book anywhere other than bed, I never have an actual bookmark for it.

It wouldn’t be so bad if I actually remembered to stop using that piece of rubbish and pick up a bookmark when I’m next in my room, but I somehow never do. It will always be in the back of my mind that I need to grab a bookmark for my book, yet I manage to make it all of the way through the book using a scrappy old receipt as a bookmark.

Why do I spend so much money on cute bookmarks if this always happens?
